Alzheimer’s disease (a form of dementia) three years ago. Mary is a retired schoolteacher and widow. She has two adult children who live nearby and visit regularly. Mary enjoys gardening and is deeply spiritual, regularly praying and watching mass online.
While Mary is physically well, she is experiencing increasing short-term memory loss, confusion, and occasional disorientation which contributes to her risk of falls. Mary suffers from urinary incontinence and requires assistance with this activity of daily living. She can no longer manage her medication or prepare meals safely. She sometimes forgets to eat, turn off appliances, or lock the front door.
