Purpose of the Teaching Portfolio

The purpose of the teaching portfolio is to demonstrate the range of your teaching competence. You are expected to provide evidence of your developing teaching skills. Your discussion and analysis of ‘best practice’ in relation to teaching methodologies (i.e., lecturing, small group teaching, etc.) should draw on and include reference to evidence-based literature. Please include in the relevant sections:

• Best Practice in Large Group Teaching (250 words)
• Best Practice in Small Group Teaching (250 words)
• Best Practice in Clinical Practice/Skills Teaching (250 words)
• Innovative Teaching Practice (250 words)

Section 3: Reflective Accounts of Teaching Practice (1000 words)

You are required to undertake an in-depth reflective analysis of your overall performance at frequent intervals throughout your programme. This should include a comparison of your performance with the guidelines or performance criteria you identified and an action plan or goals for developing your competence as you develop as a teacher.

Please include:

• Three reflective accounts of your teaching practice (250 words each)
• One overall integrated reflection to summarize your experience of teaching practice (250 words)
